GREEN SAKTHI

‘Green Sakthi,’ has evolved into significant size, creating large impact not only around Thirumalaikodi, but also in many villages in other districts of Tamilnadu, with support from the Govt – Department of Forests. Earlier this year, Sri Sakthi Amma initiated Panchayats in Vellore and Thiruvannamalai districts, empowering over 1638 Panchayats to plant saplings in their villages. Each of the panchayat was provided with 500 fruit bearing saplings, leading to the planting of over 6,00,000 saplings within this year in these districts. Amma has renamed the projects ‘SAAP’ & ‘SAGAR’ as ‘Green Sakthi’. Sripuram, Sri Narayani Peedam donated all the saplings, which were grown at the in-house nursery to ensure the consistency in quality, leading to a better success rate.

GHO SAMRASKSHANA PROTECTION & REHABILITATION OF COWS

Sripuram ‘Ghoshala’ is a symbol of Sri Sakthi Amma’s love for the Universe and its people. Cow is the epitome of a selfless contributor to the spiritual and physical needs of human beings; its protection and preservation are a service to God resulting in abundant blessings from Him. Sripuram Ghoshala is house to more than 550 cows and calves which includes a sizeable number of non milking Cows (Samrakshana Cows) who would otherwise have found their way to the slaughter house.

For the Hindus and Jains, the cow is sacred and it symbolizes all other creatures. The cow is a symbol of the Earth; the nourisher, the ever-giving, undemanding provider. The cow represents life and the sustenance of life. The cow is so generous, that it gives and gives and gives of its milk, as does the liberated soul give of his spiritual knowledge. The cow is so vital to life that it becomes the virtual sustainer of life, for many humans. The cow is a symbol of grace and abundance and the veneration of the cow instills in humans the virtues of gentleness, receptivity and connectedness with nature and God.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “One can measure the greatness of a nation and its moral progress by the way it treats its animals. Cow protection to me is not mere protection of the cow. It means protection of all that lives and is helpless and weak in the world. The cow means the entire subhuman world.” Her nature is epitomized in ‘Kamadhenu’, the divine, wish-fulfilling cow.

Sripuram Ghoshala is maintained and managed by the never ending blessings of Sri Sakthi Amma and the generous contributions from Amma’s Devotees.

Gho Samrakshana Donations and Offerings On an average Rs 5000/ is expended on feeding, sheltering and health care of one animal in one month. The milk from the cows are used for, puja, making of prasadam, annadhaanam etc and therefore the maintenance cost has to be met from other sources.

Devotees are requested to volunteer for one or more of the following services and lend a helping hand in the smooth running of Sripuram Ghoshala and Gho Samrakshana Missions:

  • Adopt the full maintenance of 1 Cow for life through annual donation of Rs 40000/-
  • Adopt the full maintenance of 1 cow for life through monthly donations of Rs 4000/-
  • Adopt the full maintenance of 1 cow for one day of Rs 500/-
  • Adopt the full maintenance of 2 cow for one day of Rs 1000/-
  • Make a onetime donation of Rs 2,00,000/- or above

Devotees donating for the above services will be entitled to Life membership of Ghoshala with following special facilities:

  • Donors will be informed about the name, age, Number and breed of the cow allotted to them for up keep.

ZERO-WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

What started off as a small, one-man project to recycle waste, has led to the creation of an award-winning waste management program with a bio-gas plant that uses animal waste to generate clean fuel for cooking. Waste collected from temples, schools, hospitals, nursing college campus and neighbouring communities is separated and all non-organic waste is recycled.

GHO DHANAM (DONATION OF COWS)

The ongoing donation of healthy cows to those experiencing financial hardship is another service provided by Sri Narayani Peedam. The aim of SRI SAKTHI AMMA’s Gho Dhanam (Donation of Cows) is to enable families to not only have milk and nutrition provisions for themselves, but for it also provides additional income for their families through the selling of milk.

Additionally, Sri Narayani Peedam under Beloved Amma’s spiritual guidance, donates healthy cows to small village temples, enabling them to perform daily Gho Poojas, brining additional spiritual benefits to their communities.

GHO SAMRASKSHANA

In India, when a cow’s ability to provide milk decreases or ends, these animals are mistreated and seen as a burden to families. As a result, these cows suffer greatly.

SRI SAKTHI AMMA initiated the Gho Samrakshana. (Protection of Cows) This project under the spiritual guidance of Beloved Amma ensures that a dedicated area is located to the housing and care of rescued and unwanted cows, many of whom would have otherwise been sent to the slaughter house.

Due to the great care these cows receive, and the lovely natural surroundings, some cows have begun producing milk again.

JYOTHI SWAROOPINI(REVIVAL OF TEMPLES)

SRI SAKTHI AMMA has regularly emphasised the importance of temples. They are institutions that create unity within society, by providing people an opportunity to socialize, serve and preserve cultural values and practices. In the villages of Tamil Nadu, due to neglect, many temples that have tremendous spiritual and historical value have become dilapidated. To overcome this problem, Beloved Amma began the Jyothi Swaroopini Project, (Revival of Temples) donating funds to revive these temples so that Pooja may be performed for the benefit of local communities. Beloved Amma says that the spiritual vibrations generated in these temples will enhance positive energy and help to create a more harmonious and peaceful society.

Another outcome born out of reviving temples is the development and fostering of Vedic scholars. For this very purpose, SRI SAKTHI AMMA initiated the Vedic Summer Camp, which is held every year in the month of May at Sri Narayani Vidyalaya School grounds.

MATHRU GANGA (DISTRIBUTION OF DRINKING WATER)

During the entire period of 1999-2001 the rains failed. Most parts of South India were affected badly by water shortages. As the water table had dropped, many were engaged in digging deeper wells and implementing rainwater harvesting. Sri Sakthi Amma quickly purchased four large tankers and continuously supplied drinking water to the rural areas. An average of 90,000 liters was distributed each day to people. During the summer season, Amma’s Matruganga project actively supplies water to the villages in the arid region for three weeks, each year.
